The infamous "Marshmallow challenge" has been given to hundreds of the best engineering and design companies after the 2015 TED talk. The task is seemingly simple: in eighteen minutes, teams must build the tallest free-standing structure out of 20 sticks of spaghetti, one yard of tape, one yard of string, and one marshmallow.
Surprising lessons emerge from this exercise: What drives successful teams? What improves performance? What kills it? Our school children will compete against their parents in this same design challenge to see what we can learn about collaboration and innovation.
The top 3 teams will win a gift card to Suzy Swirl (who will also be on site at the school serving up sweet treats).
