Brisket on the Beach 2019

Lake Bluff Alliance for Education invites you to our end of year celebration!

June 8th, 6:30pm - 11pm, South Pavilion at the Beach

To celebrate the accomplishments and collaboration between Lake Bluff schools and the Alliance for Excellence, we will gather together at the start of summer for dinner and drinks down at the beach.

Please join us on Saturday, June 8th at 6:30pm down by the water at the shelter on the south beach. Ticket price covers the private shelter rental, the drinks, and of course, the brisket and BBQ! (catered by Big Ed's).

The south beach shelter provides great cover and shelter - so the event is on come rain or come shine. This will be for adults only - leave the kiddos at home ;)

We hope you can make it - please **RSVP by June 1**.

We'll see you on the beach!

1st -3rd Grade Marshmallow Design Challenge

1st -3rd Grade Marshmallow Design Challenge

  • Lake Bluff Elementary School (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

The infamous Marshmallow Challenge featured in a 2015 TED Talk has been used to challenge the best engineering and design companies around the world.

Now it is coming to Lake Bluff Elementary School! This event is for 1st Grade through 3rd Grade families.

This STEM activity will feature teams of students competing against their parents to see who can design and create the best structure with the limited resources provided.

"...the fundamental lesson, I believe, is that design truly is a contact sport. It demands that we bring all of our senses to the task, and that we apply the very best of our thinking, our feeling and our doing to the challenge that we have at hand. And sometimes, a little prototype of this experience is all that it takes to turn us from an "uh-oh" moment to a "ta-da" moment. And that can make a big difference." ~Tom Wujec @ TED2010
